Job Summary
Operates Robotic Welding equipment to manufacture welded components to meet a production schedule. Performs multiple tasks within a robotic welding cell on repetitive weldments following written and verbal procedures. Ensure that parts are correctly loaded into fixtures for welding. Unloads completed weldments, inspects weld quality, and completes any final welding as needed. Knowledge of welding techniques and interpretation of engineering drawing specifications. Performs duties with attention to detail and accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Performs all functions involved in operation of robotic welder, including: some basic programming and touch up of programs.
- Accurately adjust welder voltage and wire speed for various material thicknesses
- Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade
- Ability to operate jib or overhead crane safely
- Positions and secures materials using proper equipment, jigs, and fixtures.
- Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures
- Ensure the completed components are stacked securely and safely to prevent falling over or damage when transporting to next operation
- Perform visual inspection to ensure raw and finished materials are defect and error free
- Correctly identifies and notifies lead of non-conforming components
- Daily cleaning of equipment and work area to maintain a safe, tidy, and clean work area.
- Report issues, malfunctions, or defects to Lead.
- Reports any observed or potential hazards immediately.
- Complies with all safety programs.
- Work in other areas/departments as the need arises or as assigned.
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
- Required to observe factory work schedules by being on time, in your work area ready to work and remaining on task throughout the workday.
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies.
- Ability to effectively manage time with a high degree of self-motivation to complete assigned tasks on time.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Must be able to weld out of position; may be required to weld overhead.
- Must be able to lift 0 – 50pounds frequently; 50 – 75pounds occasionally; over 75 pounds rarely.
- Must be able to routinely stand, sit, stoop, twist, and bend throughout a nine-hour shift.
- Must have excellent manual dexterity and a level of ambidexterity.
- Visual acuity (corrected) required for inspecting work and reading written material, blueprints, work orders, etc.
- Hearing ability sufficient to monitor equipment sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be proficient at blueprint interpretation including weld symbol recognition; must be able to read and interpret work orders, drawings, layouts, and technical / non-technical information and use this information to evaluate and execute a welding process, as well as work from oral instructions.
- Must be proficient in math and able to competently apply it in the production process.
- Must befamiliar with shop equipment such as grinders, drill presses, saws, welding fixtures/tables, etc.
- Must beable to use standard measuring tools, hand tools and material handling equipment commonly used in metal manufacturing.
- Must be able to communicate and interact successfully with supervisors and co-workers.
- Must be able to work and pay attention to detail in a fast-paced team environment, but also be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have an excellent work ethic and superior attendance.
Education and Experience Required
- Six months welding experience in metal fabrication environment required.
- Valid state driver’s license required.
- Minimum High School Diploma / GED required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
