We are currently seeking Payment Specialist Full-Time Hybrid position in Springfield, PA.

Represent Springfield Psychological in a professional, empathetic and respectful manner while interacting with prospective patients who seek psychological and/or psychiatric services from any of the Springfield Psychological locations. Responsible for the timely submission of professional medical claims to insurance companies, posting of payments made by payers and patients, and processing of refund requests. Uphold the Mission and Vision of Springfield Psychological and deliver an exceptional service experience to patients, family members, co-located practice staff and colleagues and providers of Springfield Psychological.

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm

Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in electronic claims submission, payor fee schedules and payment posting.
  • Ability to handle calls in a professional manner
  • Thorough understanding of electronic claims submission, payor fee schedules, and manual and electronic payment posting processes.
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability for critical thinking when issues or concerns have occurred with payors
  • Proficient in computer skills ex: Microsoft word, excel

Beneficial Skills & Experience:

  • Retrieve & upload payments from clearinghouse, scanned folders, ERA websites into Valant for posting
  • Accurately post insurance and patient payments to correct patient account, that are submitted electronically, or via paper check/explanation of benefits
  • Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contracted rates and notify manager of any discrepancies
  • Balance all payments posted and resolve all unbalanced payments by the end of the day
  • Update patient deductibles and coinsurance in patient demo page to reflect new patient responsibility
  • Submit refund requests and request offsets as needed
  • Notify team lead and/or management of any major insurance trends or discrepancies
  • Stay current on coverage and reimbursement policies and regulations for insurance carriers, including HMO/PPO/Commercial Plans and Medicare
  • Demonstrate teamwork amongst fellow Springfield Psychological colleagues in order to provide an excellent service experience
  • Continuously seek to identify efficient ways to perform work responsibilities and communicate to Billing Manager in a thoughtful, respectful professional manner
  • Demonstrate flexibility and openness to change
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Valant PMS/EHR
  • Other duties as assigned
