The Corporate Information Services Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Application Analyst I – Laboratory Information Systems.


The Application Analyst I – Laboratory Information Systems provides 24/7 support of UHS Laboratory applications, which includes but is not limited to Cerner PathNet, CareAware iBus, Siemens UniPOC, Orchard Copia, and Voicebrook Dictation for the UHS multi-facility organization. Assists in testing, training, Go-live and Support activities across the UHS facilities. Performs hands on application configuration and related testing. Assists in monitoring facility issues post go-live and is responsible for their resolution. Monitors the resolution of maintenance or enhancement issues assigned by the UHS Customer Support Center. Implements modifications to existing applications that will effectively accomplish desired objectives. Provides technical support to UHS entities as needed.


Key Responsibilities include:
System Implementation:
  • Regularly meets with users, vendors, and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications.
  • Supports the implementations of applications and prepares the appropriate documentation.
  • Assists in system testing and documentation for all phases of the application development life cycle.
  • Performs Q/A on application functionality.
  • Researches and resolves implementation-related Customer Support Center Tickets.
  • Assists in projects and adheres to appropriate UHS Project Management standards.
  • Ensures strict adherence to work plans, reporting all serious deviations to management.
  • Assists with the training of users in operating procedures for application.
  • Working in conjunction with a project manager, assists in completing project team activities to achieve common objectives; monitors project plans; and tracks project status, issues and progress.

System Maintenance & Support:
  • Researches and resolves Customer Support Center Tickets including major application upgrades.
  • Adheres to UHS Service Level and Change Management Policies.
  • Provides on-call support as scheduled.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communications with user community.
  • Performs daily system maintenance task and activities.

Administration Oversight:
  • Maintains Service Excellence principles.
  • Prepares and submits status reports to supervisor as required.
  • Keeps management well informed of activities, needs, problems.
  • Performs other tasks as required by management.

Continuing Education:
  • Keeps up-to-date on relevant Laboratory System Version Changes, Bug-Fix, and release notes.
  • Keeps abreast on relevant Regulatory Requirements that impact the Laboratory System such as JCAHO, FDA, CAP, CLIA and various State Laboratory Regulations.
  • Actively participates in increasing education of the Laboratory System functionality through Webinars, User Group meetings, Vendor Classes and List Serve, etc.
Qualifications:
Position Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • One or more years of Information Systems experience in a clinical laboratory setting with one year of Cerner Millennium experience, supporting the PathNet suite of modules to include but not limited to: Gen Lab, Microbiology, Anatomic Pathology, Blood Bank, Outreach, MDI (CareAware iBus), CCL, DA2 Reporting, and Cerner Reference Lab Network. Experience with Orchard Copia, Siemens UniPOC, Voicebrook Dictation, and Millennium Helix, is also preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Laboratory system applications: implementation, enhancement and support methods and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems analysis and programming techniques and procedures, including: consulting with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, debugging, or modification of applications or programs based on and related to design specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of Information System standards and quality methods and metrics.
  • Basic knowledge of project management methods.
  • General experience with regulatory requirements that impact Laboratory systems such as JCAHO, CAP, FDA and various state regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

License or Registration Requirements: ASCP BOC certification (ex. MLS, MLT, HT) preferred

Travel Requirements:
5 – 25% domestic US travel (depending on projects).
