Job Description
Summary: At Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, the Senior Systems Engineer role will be part of an Infrastructure team responsible to support the firm in all areas related to infrastructure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment using leading-edge technologies based on Microsoft, VMWARE, PURE, Cisco, ZERTO, Cohesity and various other technologies. This role will also be involved in both support and modernization of the firm’s suite of products.

Essential Duties: The Senior Systems Engineer will be involved with all or some of the following areas:
- The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, administration, monitoring and support of the firm’s Infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance and capacity of infrastructure-related technologies.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues with existing systems to identify and resolve problems.
- Designing, building, testing, and deploying new computer systems based on firm standards in our and datacenter locations.
- Maintaining and updating existing computer networks and adding new features as needed.
- Recommending new technologies that could improve efficiency or productivity within the organization.
- Coordinating with others for projects or maintenance involving multiple departments within the organization.
- Coordinating with vendors to purchase new hardware or software products.
- Testing new or revised hardware and software solutions to ensure it performs as expected.
- Maintaining existing technology servers, SAN, backup appliances and SaaS applications.
- Develop and document processes and procedures to reduce the number of reoccurring system issues.
- Demonstrate commitment to excellence in customer support and have the ability to secure customer cooperation under pressure conditions.
- Design, document, and participate in Business Continuity Testing.
- Write technical documentation to help others understand our systems.
- Function as second level support, including on-call after-hours, holiday and weekend support as needed. Answer support calls and e-mail addressed to the helpdesk and support end-users with general IT software support issues to the extent possible, including escalation of problems to outside vendor or consulting support as appropriate
- Present proposals for improvements to the end-users along with middle and upper Management level
- Responsible for monitoring Infrastructure for version upgrades or necessary patching.
- Implement system interfaces among the different applications
- Work with users and develop relationships to understand requirements, value, prioritization, and acceptance criteria
- Attend vendor sponsored training classes, seminars, webinars, conferences for firm supported accounting software. Proactively develop skills, knowledge and ability to improve processes and procedures and keep updated on trends and developments in the industry. This includes meeting annual personal development goals

Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of network, storage, and compute virtualization technologies
- Hardware, Microsoft Server OS, VMWARE, Pure Storage, Cisco, APC, Eaton and more
- In-depth knowledge of networking principles, design, and configuration of Microsoft servers
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and SNMP, and WMI
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure and O365
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS and DFS, DHCP, and other network services, as well as GPOs
- Experience with CITRIX / XenApp server architecture, configuration, monitoring, and management
- Experience with Network printing
- Experience with Power Shell scripting
- Experience with BCDR practices
- Experience with OKTA,RSA and other MFA technologies
- Understanding of MPLS and SDWAN technologies
- Project Management skills are a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel when needed
- Experience with certificates implementation and management
- Experience with anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-spam applications/implementation/support
- Working knowledge of network faxing
Other Responsibilities:
- IT vendor relationship management
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Travel to other offices when needed
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- College degree in a related technology field (Computer, Engineering, Science, etc.) or comparable job experiences aligned to Systems architecture and engineering directives
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role. Able to exhibit a progression of increasingly complex job responsibilities, including project management skills, engineering remediation techniques, and project planning and implementation
- Must be able to effectively prioritize work and communicate effectively with users on all levels. Must possess an excellent command of the English language (both oral and written).
Physical Requirements:
- Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, and moving objects (up to 50 lbs.).
- Requires manual dexterity to use computer, telephone and peripherals or equivalent, non-manual/assisting, software-based alternatives.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
