Role
The Welder uses hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products. In addition, this role must follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams. This position reports to the Fabrication Leader and is located in Pinconning, Michigan.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits;
- Maintain a safe and organized work station;
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions;
- Fabricate components by using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces; Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers; Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals;
- Actively participate in continuous improvement efforts from order entry through release to shop floor; Follow all company policies and procedures.
