Job Description
Essential Functions
- Communicate directly with architects, general contractors, and installation contractors regarding the design of AWIP products via phone or email.
- Provide technical services support including engineering structural analysis, design, product use, and detailing, to customers and the internal drafting department.
- Reviews project specifications to ensure requirements such as materials, performance, testing, installation, design or warranties can be met.
- Performs testing to analyze the performance of products to validate design values used in calculations.
- Aides in product development, testing, installation, certification and research of new products and continuous improvement of existing products.
- Assist with developing, updating and maintaining product technical documents
- Communicate regularly with Technical Service, Drafting, Field Service, Customer Service, Purchasing and Sales teams as required.
- Assists Technical Services Manager and Technical Director with assigned duties as necessary.
- Assists Quality Manager/QC technicians on the production line as necessary.
- Completes training by supervisor.
Comply with all safety and company policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Civil Engineer with Structural emphasis or equivalent.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work 8 hours per day with the ability to work overtime as needed to complete time-sensitive tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once and be able to prioritize by importance, schedule and necessity.
- Ability to understand and communicate building science methodologies, building codes and standards
- Must have good mathematics skills, the ability to accurately use a tape measure, and be knowledgeable in both US and metric measurement systems.
- Must be able to use tools, equipment, machinery, etc.
- Must have visual acuity, discernment of color and texture, and finger dexterity.
- Ability to read, write, type, and verbally communicate effectively in English.
Education and Experience
Must be able to effectively use a computer and have intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Word, and email and basic proficiency in the rest of MS Office.
Salary:
$68,000 - $75,000 Based on experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to interact effectively with employees and other individuals.
- Ability to function effectively with moderate to high levels of stress in a demanding and dynamic environment.
- Able to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Effectively read, write, speak, and communicate in English fluently.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to walk, bend, climb, crouch, lean, reach, and other physical movements as required to effectively and efficiently perform duties.
- Work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment, including noise, extreme temperatures and humidity, odors, dust, etc.
- Effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, as well as commonly used equipment and software to complete necessary functions.
- Finger dexterity, visual acuity, discernment of sounds, color, and texture.
- Must be able to use tools, equipment, machinery, etc.
- Must be reliable and dependable.
- Must have the physical and mental ability to drive a standard forklift successfully. AWIP will certify.
- The ability to travel by automobile, airplane, and other modes of economy class public transportation are required.
