Families choose U Prep Schools because they want the best for their children. Our families understand that education is a tool that has the power to shape the lives of young people today. They value our approach to delivering a culturally responsive education that prepares students to be independent learners and critical thinkers. They know that we are committed to ensuring our students are supported socially, emotionally and academically and are well prepared for college and careers in industries where diversity is lacking. Our scholars go on to become positive change agents in their community, many return to our schools as educators and have children of their own enrolled in a U Prep School.

We are one of the oldest and largest networks in Detroit with three districts; University Prep Art & Design, University Prep Science and Math, and University Preparatory Academy, to include the new Ford Law Career Academy. At U Prep, our scholars participate in a variety of pathways that provide unique learning experiences that prepares them for the real world.

One of our most distinctive defining differences that originated over 20 years ago, is the Detroit 90/90 Promise; a promise to our families that all U Prep scholars will achieve a 90% graduation and 90% college acceptance rate. We stand behind our word and are committed to ensuring our scholars are prepared to achieve success in life. Check out the list of 20 Black Detroiters Making History that was published recently by the Skillman Foundation to learn about the impact our alumni are making right here in Detroit. We are so proud of our alumni!
