Education requirements: Certification or license, preferably as a Medical Assistant.
Computer skills requirement: Excellent keyboard skills and ability to learn software programs specific to the position.
Medical skills and duties:
Greet clients and visitors warmly and in a caring, friendly manner.
Demonstrate consistent excellent customer service.
Manage the flow of clients and visitors in the reception area.
Provide patients with necessary forms and fact sheets.
Verify insurance coverage, health plan authorization, eligibility, and copays.
Facilitate appointment scheduling.
Safeguard client privacy and protected health information in accordance with HIPAA Privacy Information.
Document phone conversations in patient records as indicated.
Triage and refer calls appropriately.
Process incoming and outgoing faxes.
Display initiative in maintaining an attractive and impeccably clean clinic environment, including public restrooms, waiting areas, lab, exam rooms, and reception area.
Maintain adequate inventory of necessary supplies, forms, and other items.
Complete day-end procedures such as calling in prescriptions and confirming appointments.
Participate in on-site training.
Assist physicians in procedures and telemedicine.
Experience in testing for conditions like TB and Flu.
