The Ohana Addiction Treatment Center is Hawaii’s premier mental health and addiction treatment center. As a State Licensed & Joint Commission accredited facility, we are proud to offer Detox, Residential Inpatient, Sober Living and Outpatient treatment services to help those who are challenged with substance use and co-occurring disorders at our program in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The Ohana is looking to fill a part-time and full time Primary Therapist position that is either Masters Level or Licensed. The Primary Therapist at The Ohana is the steward of our client’s healing and treatment plan. The PT provides day-to-day psychotherapy to individuals to help process, to facilitate insight and awareness, and to assist clients with promoting a strong and healthy social, emotional, familial, and psychological lifestyle through treatment approaches such as individual sessions and group therapy. The overall goal for Primary Therapist is to improve clinical outcomes, increase patient satisfaction, and promote cost-effectiveness.
Primary Therapist’s duties include, but not limited to assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating actions required to the client’s recovery needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
- Gathers data of clients’ history through personal interviews with client, family, and others; prepares case histories affecting client; provides clinical assessment and treatment planning for clients.
- Documents clients’ diagnosis codes (immediately)
- Conducts multiple individual therapy sessions and one family therapy session for each client on caseload (weekly).
- Completes Utilization Review documentation one day prior to UR dates
- Completes and updates treatment plans for each client on caseload.
- Facilitates therapeutic group sessions each week.
- Review and completes clinical documentation such as ASAM, Suicide Screen, Biopsychological Assessment, discharge documentation, and individual and group session notes.
- Utilize KIPU’s calendar when scheduling clients’ sessions and appointments
- Review client charts once a week to ensure clinical compliance standards are being met including client charts, treatment plans, and DAP notes
- Collaborates with medical team and other clinical staff in the development and implementation of clients’ treatment and intervention programs that they can understand and comply with.
- Participates in crisis intervention and conflict resolution actions, including suicide assessments, partner abuse, child and elder abuse screening; takes appropriate measures to resolve crisis situations; implements mandatory reporting procedures in accordance with regulations (including HIPAA) and policies
- Monitor clients’ conduct throughout the day
- Ensure clients are attending appropriate sessions and are on time
- Attend and participate in clinical team meetings
- Collaborate with the Clinical Team.
- Support Certified SUD Counselor and Registered SUD Counselor Intern in their clinical development
- Maintain proper chain of command
- Convey clients’ needs to medical, operational, and other clinical staff
- Maintain a high level of flexibility with the daily flow of work tasks
This position is open for Master’s Level and Licensed Mental Health and Social Work Professionals and is conducted in person at our treatment facility on the Big Island. A relocation bonus is being offered for this position.

Pay: $50,240.00 - $90,440.00 per year
