Job description
Do you have:
- A Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in a Human Services field?
- A positive attitude, quick smile, and a commitment to a person centered service philosophy?
- Previous experience providing case management services?
- A wish to work for a team and an organization that promotes work-life balance, approachability, and a commitment to excellence?
PLEASE NOTE: although the successful candidates will work out of a home-based office, this is NOT a remote or work from home position. The majority of time working will be spent in the community with clients. Please pay attention to each service area noted below and note which service area you are applying for when you apply.
Community Brain Injury Services (CBIS) is a private non-profit agency serving individuals with brain injuries in the Metro Richmond and Hampton Roads’ Peninsula. We are currently expanding our case management program into Southern Virginia and onto the Middle Peninsula (see below for specific localities) and are searching for case managers to fill these roles. Because each of these positions will require working remotely out of a home-based office, preference will be given to candidates who reside within each of those communities. When applying, please indicate the service area that you are applying to.
At Community Brain Injury Services we serve individuals that have sustained a life altering brain injury. We work with individuals to regain independence, rebuild self-confidence, fully re-engage in their community, and connect to resources needed to live safely and independently.
The Position:
The Case Manager position will require a candidate to work out of a home-based office. This is a community-based case manager position which requires the position to meet clients where they are in the community, throughout the service area. A successful candidate will be a self-starter skilled at working independently. Because these are new positions for our organization in these service areas, in the beginning emphasis will be on building relationships with referral sources and developing a network of resources for survivors of brain injury in these communities.
Full-time case managers at CBIS provide case management services to adults with brain injury. Responsibilities include: conducting intake/assessment of service needs, coordination of services among providers, development/monitoring of service plans, as well as advocacy, consultation, and education for clients, families, and the community.
An eligible candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social work, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or closely related field. Master’s degree and/or previous work history providing case management preferred. This position also requires a minimum of two years of case management experience OR experience working with persons with disabilities. A valid driver’s license, good DMV record, and access to a reliable personal vehicle are also required. Mileage reimbursement provided.
At Community Brain Injury Services, we embrace our differences, recognizing different starting points and meeting people where they are as we help them advance. Our goal is to create a psychologically safe environment where people are comfortable with the balance of power and are essential in decision making.
Community Brain Injury Services is committed to providing a workplace and programming that promotes these values. We celebrate and welcome the full spectrum of race, religion, belief, culture, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital, veteran, socio-economic and disability status.
Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter to Claire Yarbrough, Director of Operations by Friday, May 5th. Please note which service area you are applying to.
