Job Description
Jefferson Financial Federal Credit Union is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to join the team at our Metairie location. This position will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the Accounting Department personnel ensuring that all functions within the area of responsibility are performing in accordance with credit union policies and applicable regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Provides supervision to Accounting staff and maintains responsibility for effective completion of their duties.
· Maintains a documented system of accounting procedures; assists in implementing a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk. Completes or ensures completion of all month-end reconciliations.
· Responsible for the daily maintenance of accounting records and preparation of routine financial reports. Reviews monthly to ensure accurate and complete posting of entries to the general ledger. Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
· Performs, often manages, routine accounting functions, involving the general ledger and financial reporting.
· Recommends and implements accounting practices approved by senior management.
· Performs accounting practices to ensure operating and financial statements accurately reflect condition of the credit union.
· Ensures timely and accurate completion of quarterly Call Report.
· Assists in credit union projects as they relate to and impact the general ledger and financials.
· Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual financial statement audit. Assists Chief Financial Officer in providing financial information and documentation for regulators and other external third parties.
· Assists Chief Financial Officer with regulatory reporting and special projects including, but not limited to, financial statements, grant reporting, and profitability reporting.
· Ensures timely payments of state and federal withholding and timely and accurate filing of IRS Form 945 and corresponding state withholding reconciliation.
· Manages accounts payable, fixed asset and prepaid sub-ledgers.
· Completes all required compliance/continuing education training.
