Job Summary
Investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects. Position will require some travel (20-30% locally and to out of state suppliers for audits).
Core Responsibilities
- Work with Purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported, Supplier Scorecard, and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule.
- Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI's, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPPM and waste.
- Establish specific short / long term supplier quality goals.
- Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) and Corrective Action and Preventative Action {CAPdJ.
- Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
- Develop long-term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
- Aide Production and New Products Teams in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined new product development process.
- Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Owens & Minor. Projects may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6-Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events.
- Drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base.
- Develop positive relationships and effective lines of communication with suppliers: Partnership-oriented arrangements.
- Help establish and deploy a Closed-Loop Quality Management Systems that integrates all process modules (Audit, Non-conformance tracking, CAPA and lastly Change Control) and ensures completion.
- Participate as a member of the Material Review Board to review and disposition
- Supplier related Nonconformance Material Reports as required.
- Participate as a member of the Quality Review Board to present the "Supplier
- Quality Pulse" to Management.
- Maintains all supplier files to O&M quality management system standards.
- Performs additional duties as directed.
Qualifying Experience
- Four (4) year BS Engineering Degree preferred but will consider experience in lieu of degree.
- 5 to 10 years' experience manufacturing and / Quality experience a strong plus
- Proficient in Microsoft.
Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of QSR's, ISO 13485, GMP, and FDA regulations.
- Experience with FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, SPC, and related statistical tools.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production equipment.
- Ability to write technical documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A working knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques.
- Requires attention to detail and ability to execute to deadlines on multiple projects.
- 6-Sigma and/or Lean experience preferred (trained or certified)
- Working knowledge of SAP and or Oracle ERP platforms preferred but not required.
