Position Summary
The Transfer Credit Evaluator is responsible for the evaluation of incoming transfer credits through the review of official transcripts submitted by applicants to Brookdale Community College. The evaluator oversees the evaluation process, including collaborating with professional staff members who assist with the retrieval and imaging of the documents. Responsible for database maintenance as well as policy and procedure manuals will be the responsibility of the evaluator. This position also requires collaboration with Academic Affairs to facilitate the transfer process. A comprehensive communication plan will be developed and maintained with the assistance of the evaluator.
Description of Duties
- Coordinate the transfer credit evaluation process by evaluating courses completed at regionally accredited colleges and prepare documentation from non-accredited collegiate and non-collegiate learning experiences for review.
- Evaluate credit from several sources such as AP, CLEP, DSST, and other non-traditional learning environments in accordance with College policy. Research and gather additional information from faculty and other colleges as necessary to analyze and verify complex transfer credit cases.
- Collaborate with professional staff members on the retrieval and imaging of incoming documents in support of the transfer process.
- Maintain accurate database of transfer equivalents as well as policy and procedure manuals in the college ERP and any applicable specialized software. Continue to assess current processes and recommend changes as needed.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of a comprehensive communication plan for transfer students.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Academic Affairs to facilitate the evaluation process for transfer credits that require faculty and Dean input and approval. This includes, but is not limited to, serving as a resource to academic Governance committees.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred.
Experience:
- Three years of related work experience, to include experience with transfer student credit evaluations and a student ERP system.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain knowledge of policies, regulations, and guidelines related to the position functions.
- Ability to work well with a diverse college student population.
- Ability to work collaboratively and to address problems through teamwork.
- Must be computer literate with ability to utilize Microsoft Office at an intermediate level and the ability to learn and utilize specific higher education programs and systems
- Ability to learn and apply office practices, procedures, policies, and regulations that are essential to the position.
- Ability to learn applicable Federal and State regulations as well as the College procedures, policies, and regulations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $61,123.00 per year
