USAging represents and supports the network of Area Agencies on Aging and advocates for the Title VI Native American Aging Programs that serve millions of older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers throughout the nation live with optimal health, well-being, independence and dignity in their homes and communities. Our members are the local leaders that develop, coordinate and deliver a wide range of home and community-based services, including information and referral/assistance, case management, home-delivered and congregate meals, in-home services, caregiver supports, transportation, evidence-based health and wellness programs, long-term care ombudsman programs and more.

Job Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with financial related functions which may include, monthly reporting and accounting reconciliations, preparing financial statements, accounting analysis, budgeting and assisting with the financial audits. In addition, this role interfaces with all levels of USAging staff, which requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have extensive accounting knowledge and sound judgement to plan and successfully accomplish departmental and individual goals. In addition, this position with assist USAging’s Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative team with establishing and maintaining the necessary financial oversight related to the grant and its numerous grantees.

Duties and Responsibilities
· Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of USAging.
· Prepares accurate and timely periodic financial statements, including general ledger journal entries/reconciliations, cash management and bank reconciliations, fixed assets and depreciation accounting, and monthly Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Activities.
· Prepares or assists in the preparation of monthly summary analysis on departmental results as part of the monthly reporting packages.
· Assists with the annual budget development, along with the budget development and financial components of grant applications, and manages the financial tracking of all awarded grants.
· Assists the CFO with directing USAging’s financial functions to include establishing and maintaining its account principles, practices and internal controls.
· Assists in the preparation and oversight of the year-end audits related to financial and Uniform Guidance.
· Supports the CFO with special projects and workflow process improvement, including policies and procedures within the Finance Team and USAging.
· Assists and advises on any other areas deemed necessary by the CFO.
· Assists the ADVC Team with sub-recipient monitoring, including assuring timely review and processing of subgrant and other grant specific disbursement requests, and reviewing of financial reports and other submissions from the subgrantees.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business with a minimum of three or more years of accounting or operations experience required (CPA license preferred)
· Previous accounting experience in the nonprofit sector and with donor grant agreements, grant management and indirect allocation accounting is preferred
· Self-starter with proven organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and build external relationships
· Excellent skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· Pivot tables and Vlookups/macros preferred
· Strong analytical and decision-making skills
· Attention to detail and follow-through in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Must have an all-hands-on-deck attitude and a willingness to pitch in when needed
· Passion for USAging’s mission of helping older adults age in place and maintain their health and independence for as long as possible
WORK HOURS AND LOCATION
This full-time position is based in USAging’s Washington, DC, office. The successful candidate will be able to attend the USAging Annual Conference and Tradeshow each summer for up to six days.

Employees of USAging are required to abide by the organization’s COVID-19 policies. USAging receives federal funding through contracts with the federal government or their contractors. As a result of our status as a federal contractor, USAging is required to ensure that all of our employees are fully vaccinated. As a condition of and to be considered for employment, successful applicants for this position must be, or willing to be, fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the date of hire. (Full vaccination is currently defined as two weeks after both doses of a two-dose vaccine or two weeks since a single-dose vaccine has been adminstered.) Upon being hired, employees will be required to provide proof of full vaccination.
