We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Production Supervisor for our Kingman, AZ facility to manage and lead a manufacturing team that efficiently meets production schedules, product order demand, quality standards, and cost initiatives. One who leads people in a work environment that meets or exceeds the company’s standards of ‘Safe Operations with Zero Harm’.

Insteel Wire Products, established in 1953, started from humble beginnings, embraces strong values, and has its Home Office in Mt. Airy, NC. We are the nation's largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. We manufacture and market prestressed PC-strand and welded wire reinforcement, including engineered structural mesh, concrete pipe reinforcement, and standard welded wire reinforcement for concrete reinforcement applications. The company operates ten manufacturing facilities in eight states.

Position Snapshot
The Production Supervisor is a valuable team member that reports to the Plant General Manager. You will oversee one or more production lines and be responsible for all people and production requirements of your area of responsibility. You will develop manpower requirements, identify problems in sufficient time for corrective action, and direct the performance and functional task elements of a highly trained and effective workforce.
To perform well in this role, you will need to:
Production Team Leader:
- Directly supervise work of assigned personnel on assigned shifts and coach and support their growth and development to reach their maximum potential
- Manage employee relations, housekeeping, safety, production problems, training, and cost on individual shift.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings: Checks for absentees, makes necessary adjustments; distributes job assignments and informs employees of changes or events within the company. Communicates plant goals/concerns to associates
- Prepare for shift by checking production conditions with the previous shift's Production Team Leader, checking orders, and scheduling production on machines. Ensures all material supplies are adequate for shift operation
- Prepare daily reports
- Ensure Lean Initiatives and KPI’s are actioned and current; continuously improves upon the same
Inventory:
- Coordinate with shipping related to finished goods storage and location
- Conduct cycle counts
- Coordinate scrap and inventory related functions to maintain a correct inventory
- Monitor materials used in production. Adjusts entries in computer system as needed
Safety:
- Conduct visual inspections of plant to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations to ensure ‘Safe Operations with Zero Harm’
- Enforce the use of safety equipment and PPE
- Conduct weekly risk assessments, Safety Behavioral Audits (SBA’s), and near-miss/accident investigations
- Lead toolbox safety/information meetings and training sessions
Quality:
- Checks quality of finished product and work-in-process throughout the shift to adjust as needed for improvement
- Checks with Quality Assurance Department on test results for equipment to ensure that only top-quality product is being produced
- Aids in the development and implementation of quality improvement methods (continuous improvement) and cost-saving ideas
- Initiates preventative action to ensure all performance standards are met
Qualifications To be considered for the role:
- Professional or technical degree preferred (2-year Associate Degree)
- A minimum of 3 years of previous work-related experience is required in a discrete heavy manufacturing environment. Individuals must have above-average interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and develop individuals. Steel wire manufacturing experience preferred but not required
- Should have significant experience in the following: A proven track record of success in a manufacturing supervisory role, stable work history, knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Practices, and the ability to lead and develop a productive workforce
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, and Outlook
